Professor Gerald Byrne is our head of research and development at Maikology. Gerry's is one of Ireland's leading professors in the field of engineering & innovation. He is a director of GB Innovation Ltd and is the past College Principal of Engineering & Architecture, Dean(Executive) of Engineering & the director of the Advanced Manufacturing Science Research Centre at UCD, Dublin. Gerald is also is a Senior Advisor to the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany & is a director of Openhydro Ltd.
COLIN KEOGH
RESEARCH ENGINEER
Colin is our specialist engineer advisor here at Maikology. Colin has an extensive engineering background with an emphasis on R&D, in the areas of renewable energy + rapid prototyping. Colin is a Nissan Next Generation Ambassador & was nominated in the '30 under 30' in Europe by Forbes Magazine, January 2017. Colin has worked in developing Bio Mass technologies, the development of solar PV technology for the automotive sector as well as leading research in 3D printing technology & advanced materials. Colin currently is the Vice Chair of the IMechE & Engineer's Ireland young members board as well as being a board member of Engineers Ireland, Mech & Manufacturing Division/ Senior IMechE panel.
SEAN TOOMEY
PRODUCT DESIGNER
Sean is a Product Designer at Maikology, specialising in product research & development, model making & IP. Sean received his Bsc in Industrial & Product design from DIT, Dublin, where his final year project won 'Most Innovative Concept', DIT. Soon after Sean began working in Dyson,renowned for manufacturing highly innovative consumer products, where he became a design engineer in the new products ideas team. Sean was awarded winner of the Young Entrepreneurs Awards by the Dublin Enterprise Board in 2007.
ALAN MACFARLANE
PRODUCT DESIGNER
Alan is a Product Designer at Maikology, specialising in product research & development, graphic design & visualisation as well as brand identity. In 2016, Alan graduated NCAD with a BDes (Hons) in Industrial Design. In his final year Alan received a prestigious RSA student design award for his project 'Watercooler', along with a fellowship at the RSA in London. Soon after graduating, Alan began working with Maikology.
